We can find the value of 1/2 of x using the Pythagorean theorem

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

a^2 + 6^2 = 12^2

a^2 = 36+144

a^2 = 108

Take the square root

sqrt(a^2) = sqrt( 108)

a =sqrt(36*3)

a = sqrt(36) sqrt(3)

a = 6sqrt(3)

Now x = 2 times the length of a

x = 2 * 6 sqrt(3)

x = 12 sqrt(3)

x =20.78460969
