This circle has a given center point of ( 2, 1 ), from which we need to find the endpoint of the diameter, given the other endpoint to be ( 7, 1 ).

The center is equidistant from either end of the diameter, as of course that is a property of the circle. Therefore the first step in determining the respective endpoint of the diameter would be to determine the distance between points ( 2, 1 ) and ( 7, 1 ). 7 - 2 = 5, and hence the coordinates are 5 units apart. Therefore the point which we want to determine, and the center ( 2,1 ) are 5 units apart as well by radii congruency. 2 - 5 = - 3, and hence the coordinates of the endpoint of this diameter will be ( - 3, 1 ).
