After WW2, the USA started something called, ¨Marshall Plan¨ to rebuild Europe. In this plan, we gave over $15 BILLION dollars to European nations to help rebuild them. We also gave a lot of money to Greece to help convince them to become a Democratic nation and avoid becoming Communist at all costs (this was because, at the time, Russia or the USSR was trying to extend its Communist influence all across Eastern Europe).
