1:open the brackets.

2:take 21 to the other side to be subtracted by 42

3:you get a -z but you can take it to the other side to get a +z but -21 divide to get the answer

-7(z-3)=42

-7z+21=42

-7z=42-21

-7z=21

therefore,

z=21\-7

that is, -21\7=-3
