Answer: Width= 7 in.

Length= 10 in.

Explanation:

l=w+3

The perimeter of the rectangle is 34 inches.

2(w+l)=34

substitute

2(w+w+3)=34

2(2w+3)=34

distributive property
a(b+c)=ab+ac

2\cdot 2w+2\cdot 3=34

4w+6=34

4w+6-6=34-6

4w=28

divide 4 on both sides

w=7

Width is 7 inches

substitute w=7 in equation
l=w+3

l=7+3

l=10

Length is 10 inches
