The stylistic elements characterized in this piece which represent the Baroque period are the drama, realism, and emotion in the piece. The way the bodies are positioned give it a vivid quality. The work comes to life like theater because of the pain in the young girl's face which is marked by tears. You can see the drama as her arm reaches towards her head and she prays that she would be spared from evil. The baroque period is full of drama and passion, it was important for a work of art to tell a story.

The viewer can see the girl trying to escape her captor because she is climbing towards the sky. The emotion of her fear and pain is captured in the face and arms as well as the body being twisted away from Pluto. Equally you can see the anger and rage in Pluto’s face as he lifts the young girl while she tries to escape almost to symbolize his victory over the young victim.
