Answer:

x = -2, -8.

Explanation:

x =[(-b +/- √(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a

x^2 + 10x + 16 = 0

Here a = 1, b = 10 and c = 16, so substituting in the formula:

x = [-10 +/- √(10^2 - 4*1*16)] / 2

= (-10 +/- √36)/2

= (-10 +/- 6)/2

= -4/2, -16/2

= -2, -8.

Answer:

x = - 8 , x = - 2

Explanation:

x² + 10x + 16 = 0

with a = 1, b = 10 , c = 16

then using the given quadratic formula

x =
(-10+/-√(10^2-(4(1)(16)) )/(2)

=
(-10+/-√(100-64) )/(2)

=
(-10+/-√(36) )/(2)

=
(-10+/- 6)/(2)

then

x =
(-10-6)/(2) =
(-16)/(2) = - 8

x =
(-10+6)/(2) =
(-4)/(2) = - 2
