Is 3 a solution to the equation 6x – 7 = 12?

Answer: 3.2

6x = 12 +7
6x = 19
x = 19 / 6
x = 3.2 (1 dp)

Explanation:

6x – 7 = 12?

Substitute 3 in for x and see if the equation is true

6*3 - 7 = 12

18-7 = 12

11 =12

This is false so 3 is not a solution
