Carbohydrates are made of elements Carbon , hydrogen and oxygen! Carbohydrates occur as sugars and polymers. The simplest form which is monosaccharides and disaccharides are sugars and polysaccharides are polymers ! Disaccharides are made of two monosaccharides formed my a glycocidic bond ! For example maltose is made of 2 glucose molecules and sucrose is made of glucose and fructose and lactose is made of glucose and galactose! Monosaccharides bind as a long chain structures or branches and forms a polysaccharide! Usually 100 to 1000 monosaccharides are included ! For example cellulose is made of glucose as it’s monomer and inulin which is present in dalia tubers are made of fructose ! We can obtain monosaccharides by hydrolysis of disaccharides and polysaccharides
