6+5=11


Combine\:fractions


(3)/(12)+(5)/(12)=(8)/(12)


Simplify


(8)/(12) =(2)/(3)


11+(2)/(3)

Explanation:

6 and 3/12 = 72/12 + 3/12 = 75/12.

5 and 5/12 = 60/12 + 5/12 = 65/12.
