2x − 4y = 6 ⇒ 2x = 4y + 6

2x = 4y + 6 and 2x + 4y = -10

so: 4y + 6 + 4y = -10

4y + 6 = -10

4y = -16

y = -4

2x = -2 ⇒ x = -1
