a. Compared to the graph of y=x, the graph of y=-x is less steep.

Compared to the graph of y=x, the graph of y = -x intersects the y-axis at the same point.

b. Compared to the graph of y = x, the graph of y=x+ 5 is equally steep.

Compared to the graph of y=x, the graph of y=x+ 3 intersects the y-axis at a higher point.

Part a.

In Mathematics, a steeper slope simply means that the slope of a line is bigger than the slope of another line. This ultimately implies that, a graph with a steeper slope has a greater (faster) rate of change in comparison with another graph.

In this context, the graph of y = -x is less steep compared to the graph of y=x. Compared to the graph of y=x, the graph of y = -x intersects the y-axis at the same point because their y-intercept is at (0, 0).

Part b.

The graph of y=x+ 5 is equally steep compared to the graph of y = x.

Compared to the graph of y=x, the graph of y=x+ 3 intersects the y-axis at a higher point because its y-intercept is at (0, 3).
