listening to what the report is about and also to keep on track with main points of the report. another action would be asking the questions carefully. they need to be worded properly in grammar and to be taken into consideration of the feelings or privacy of the person answering the question.

But I'd say that in general, the journalist should always tell the truth, uphold confidences (so don't reveal the name of the source unless they have permission), don't report something that isn't verified (ideally with 2 or 3 sources at least), and don't reveal the full names of children or victims of crimes without permission.
