Once upon a time in 1998, Megan was walking along the road smoking a cigarette. She had been smoking for about 10 months. She saw a old man wheezing across the road. He was gripping onto something. He no longer had the power to grip what he held. It was a cigarette. Megan can’t believe she saw someone die in front of her eyes. Megan was shocked but tried her best to ignore it. She kept smoking. She then saw the man appear on the news. He was once a wealthy man named Robert Jones who had a plan to live a good life and become a engineer. He even had gotten accepted to Harvard. However, he started smoking and things had went downhill for him. His family started to become worried about his addiction. He yelled at them after they tried to take his cigarette pack. His grades starting to drop in Harvard so Harvard kicked him out. His family had gotten enough of him too. He ended up on the streets. For every donation he got as a homeless man, he kept buying cigarette packs. People notified the news that they had witnessed him always smoking. Lastly, his family sobbed at what he had become. The cold look in the mother’s eyes had looked into Megan’s eyes. Megan was only 17. She decided not to be like Robert. She turned off the tv and threw all of her cigarettes away. She sat down and called her mom. “I love you mom”.
