Given data : 83 , 73 , 76 , 72 , 75 , 85 , 79 , 76

Arranging the data in ascending order:

72 , 73 , 75 , 76 , 76 , 79 , 83 , 85

N ( total number of items ) = 8

Here, as there are 8 terms , we cannot find the one central value within the set.

The median will be average of the two central terms, 76 and 76

Now, to find the median, we have to divide the sum of two central terms ( 76 and 76) by 2

Median :
(76 + 76)/(2)

Calculate the sum:


(152)/(2)

Divide:
