Explanation:

1. Because 1/5 is outside of the parentheses, multiply everything inside the parentheses by 1/5. You should have 1/5x-3=7.

2. To get the variable and nonvariable in different sides, add 3 to both sides. You should have 1/5x=10

3. Divide both sides of the equation by 1/5 to isolate the variable. X is 50.

To double check, just input 50 where the x was and solve 1/5(50-15). You'll get 7
