x + 4 = 2 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

x = - 2

OR

- (x + 4) = 2, distribute left side

- x - 4 = 2 ( add 4 to both sides )

- x = 6 ( multiply both sides by - 1 )

x = - 6

Thus solutions are x = - 2, x = - 6

These are represented on the graph by solid blue circles at x = - 2, x = - 6
