Since point B bisects AC into two equal parts

AB=BC

Since the two right triangles have side BD in common, we can then say that the two triangles are congruent and the length of the hypotenuses (AD and DC) are equal.

If AD=DC

8x-1=6x+9

8x-6x=9+1

2x=10

x=5

Now,

AB=3x-2

=3(5)-2

=13 Units

Since AB=BC

AC=AB+BC

=13+13

AC=26 units
