The awadh peasant movement was the non-cooperation movement that was against the oppression of the talukdars who demanded for high rents and other benefits from peasants and often left the peasants with short tenure and often facing eviction. The movement was led by Baba Ramchandra to abolish this oppression and reduce the revenue of landlords. It was supported by congress who sought to integrate into wider mass agitation. Congress could not however approve of it further when the non cooperative movement became violent and more unpredictable in different places
