Answer: y = 3x + 2

Slope = 3, y intercept = 2

Find the slope of the line through (x1,y1) = (-2,-4) and (x2,y2) = (1,5)

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (5 - (-4))/(1 - (-2))

m = (5 + 4)/(1 + 2)

m = 9/3

m = 3 is the slope

Plug m = 3 and (x1,y1) = (-2,-4) into the point slope formula. Solve for y.

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - (-4) = 3(x - (-2))

y + 4 = 3(x + 2)

y + 4 = 3*x + 3*2 ... distribute

y + 4 = 3x + 6

y + 4 - 4 = 3x + 6 - 4 ... subtracting 4 from both sides

y = 3x + 2 is the slope intercept equation
