Solution,


- 4 {x}^(2) + 3x - 5 - ( - 7x - 9)

When there is a (-) in front of an expression in parentheses, change the sign of each term in the expression


- 4 {x}^(2) + 3x - 5 + 7x + 9

Collect like terms


- 4 {x}^(2) + 3x + 7x - 5 + 9


- 4 {x}^(2) + 10x - 5 + 9

Calculate the sum


- 4 {x}^(2) + 10x + 4

Factor out -2 from the expression


- 2(2 {x}^(2) - 5x - 2)
