Liverworts, mosses, or ferns hardly grow in dry biomes because they require moist environment in order to successfully sexually propagate themselves.

During sexual reproduction, the male sperm requires water to swim and meet the female egg. This means that without water, fertilization cannot take place and sexual propagation will become impossible. This is unlike advanced plants in which there are various means by which the pollen can travel to meet the ovule.

Hence, the group of plants in question hardly grow in dry biomes.
