The value of x is 15/7

Explanation:

(5 - x)/(5 + x) = (2)/(5)

By doing cross multiplication

5(5-x)= 2(5+x)

=> 25-5x= 20+2x

=> 25 - 10 = 2x +5x

=> 15 = 7x

=> x = 15/7.

Hope it helps you.

Answer:

x = 15/7

Explanation:

Cross multiply.

2(5+x) = 5(5-x)

Expand the brackets.

10+2x = 25 - 5x

Add 5x and -10 on both sides.

2x + 5x = 25 -10

Combine like terms.

7x = 15

Divide both sides by 7.

x = 15/7
