AE = X + 11

CE = 6x + 1

To find: Find AC

solution,

The diagonals at a rectangle bisects each other. Hence, AE = EC

x + 11 = 6x + 1

Move the variable to L.H.S and change its sign

X - 6x + 11 = 1

Move the constant to R.H.S and change its sign

x - 6x = 1 - 11

Simplify

-5x = -10

Divide both side of the equation by 5

-5x/5 = -10/5

Calculate

-x = -2

The minus sign (-) will be cancelled on both sides

X = 2

Again,

EC = 6x + 1

= 6 * 2 + 1

= 12 + 1

= 13
