Hi, to solve this system of equations we have to multiply the second equation by 2, and then subtract the first equation to the second one:

4x+y=-5

-2x+2y=6

-4x+4y=12

4x+y=-5

5y =7

y = 7/5 = 1.4

Replacing y=1.4 on any equation:

4x+1.4=-5

4x = -5-1.4

4x= -6.4

x=-6.4/4

x=-1.6
