To do this I would find 10%, by getting rid of a zero. This makes 10% of 110000= 11000

5% is equal to half of 10%

So 5%= 5500

1%= 10% with a zero knocked off.

=5500-1100

=4400

4%=4400

New population= 110000+4400

=114400
