Both the Granger and the Farmers' Alliance found it difficult to stand together on national issues. The Granger were the Patrons of Husbandry. It was formed in 1867 to support better methods of agriculture to improve the lives and working conditions of farmers. They supported the Greenback Party and the Populist Party.
