Odd numbers by definition are 2k + 1

Consecutive odd numbers will be
2k + 1 and 2k + 3

Formulating the equation from the question

(2k + 1 + 2k + 3) = 6(2k+1) -2

4K + 4 = 12k + 6 -2
4= 8k + 4
K = 0

Therefore first odd number is 2k + 1 = (2 x 0) + 1 = 1

Second odd number is 2k + 3 = (2 x 0) + 3 = 3

The two numbers are 1 and 3

Answer:

1, 3

Explanation:

1st number = x

2nd number = x+2

x+x+2=6x-2

2x+2=6x-2

4=4x

x=1

so the first number is 1 and the second number is 3.

CHECK: The sum of one and three is four, which is two less than six times one.
