Expand the brackets out via multiplication.

2x + 6 = x -4

Subtract 6 from both sides

2x = x - 10

Subtract x from both sides

x = -10

There’s your answer.

Answer:

2(x + 3) = x - 4

2x + 6 = x - 4 (Distribute 2)

x = -10 (Subtract x and 6)
