Solving

  • -4x² = 24x + 11
  • 4x² + 24x + 11 = 0
  • 4x² + 24x + 36 - 36 + 11 = 0
  • (2x + 6)² - 25 = 0
  • (2x + 6)² = 25
  • ⇒ 2x + 6 = ±5

Case 1 : x = +5

  • 2x + 6 = 5
  • 2x = -1
  • x = -1/2
  • x = -0.5

Case 2 : x = -5

  • 2x + 6 = -5
  • 2x = -11
  • x = -11/2
  • x = -5.5
