A population of 240 birds increases at a rate of 16% annually. Jemel writes an exponential function of the form f(x) =

ab' to represent the number of birds after x years. Which values should she use for a and b?

Answer: A = 240(1.16)^x

a= 240

b= 1.16

Explanation:

Hi, to answer this question we have to apply an exponential growth function:

A = P (1 + r) t

Where:

p = original population

r = growing rate (decimal form)

t= years

A = population after t years

Replacing with the values given:

A =240(1+ 16/100)^x

A = 240(1.16)^x

If it is in the form: f(x) = ab'

a= 240

b= 1.16
