Explanation:

Our equation is a quadratic equation so we will use the dicriminant method

  • Let Δ be our dicriminant
  • a=1
  • b= -16
  • c= 25
  • Δ= (-16)²-4*25*1=156≥0
  • so we have two solutions : x and y
  • x= (16-
    √(156))/2= 1.7555≈ 1.8
  • y=(16+
    √(156))/2=14.244≈ 14.3
