Examining the figure given, ED is an angle bisector.

Therefore, according to the angle bisector theory, EH/EG = HD/GD

EH = 56mm

EG = 44.8mm

HD = 35mm

GD = (x+4) mm

56/44.8 = 35/(x+4)

Cross multiply

56*(x+4) = 35*44.8

56x + 224 = 1,568

Subtract 224 from both sides

56x = 1,568/224

56x = 7

Divide both sides by 56

x = 7/56

x = ⅛
