Explanation:

1. 60 cakes *
(20)/(100)=60*(2/10) or (1/5)

we come to 60 *
(1)/(5)=12 cakes

2. 1/6 of the cakes equals 10 because if you divide 60 by 6, you get 10.

3. add 10+12 to get 22 cakes that Sam has given away.

4. subtract 22 cakes from the original 60 to get 38 cakes left over.

5. Sam has 38/60 cakes left and simplified it is (19/30)
