Let us assume

y = other leg lengths

So, the area of a triangle =

Now


x^2 - 4 = (1)/(2) (2x+4)y


(x-2)(x+2) = (1)/(2) 2(x+2)y

So,

(x-2)(x+2) = (x+2)y

And, finally

x - 2 = y
