Linear functions: Y = mx + b

m = slope (rate of change) ***when it is linear, the slope is constant.

b = y-intercept (starting point)
x = input
y = output

y = 8 - 1.25x

Answer:

Explanation:

You need to find out if the equation is linear or not. A linear equation will have a constant change. So as x increases by 1, y decreases by 1.25. You would check every line given and see if it continues the same. If so then it is a linear equation. Your slope is the rate of change, meaning how much does x and y increase or decrease. Your b is where the equation starts. You would find b at the top of the table. The first # on this is 0. 8 is your b. x is the input that is multiplied to the slope to receive the output:y.
