Answer:

x=6 and y=5

Explanation:

2x+y=17 equation1

3x-3y=3 equation2

multiplying equation 1 by 3 so that 3y and 3y got cancelled and we can find the value of x

3(2x+y=17) ⇒ 6x+3y=51 equation3

adding equation 3 and equation 2

6x+3x+3y-3y=51+3

9x=54

dividing 9 on both sides

9x/9=54/9

x=6

put the value of x in equation 1 to find the value of y

2(6)+y=17

12+y=17

12-12+y=17-12

y=5

put the values in the equation 1 if they give the same answer as R.H.S

so they are correct

i have checked the values it is correct

i hope this will help you :)

Answer: (x,y) (6,5)

Explanation:

2x + y = 17

3x - 3y = 3

Divide both sides,

2x + y = 17

x - y = 1

Eliminate one variable by adding

3x = 18

x = 6

Substitute the value of x

3(6) - 3y = 3

-3y = 3-18

y = 15-3

y = 5
