Now let us work out the value of z + x times y. This can be translated mathematically as follows

14/5 + 3/5 × 1/3

using the PEMDAS principle, multiplication comes before addition therefore, we will do the multiplication before addition.

3/5 × 1/3 = 1/5

14/5 + 1/5 = (14 + 1)/5 = 15/5 = 3
