before and during andrew jackson's time as the 7th president of the united states from 1829 to 1837, he didn't support the native americans at all. besides owning slaves himself, president jackson treated the native americans cruelly. he forced them out of their own lands and forced them to move to the west. during this move (also known as the trail of tears) many native americans numbering in the thousands suffered, got sick, and died.

any man and president who lets native americans be treated in that way isn't a good man. even now, andrew jackson's presidency is controversial.
