Answer:

King Jaja of Opobo was famous of fighting against British economic interests in palm oil in Nigeria and for being arrested on arrival aboard a British vessel although the British ambassador invited him to the vessel for a negotiation.

He's known as a hero because he earned his way out of slavery to head the Anna Pepple House merchant faction of Bonny Island, which inspired his fellow Nigerians.

If he lived today, he was still a hero because his fighting against colonist, slave owners and injustice.

I admire his courage to fight for the benefit of communities. At the head of merchant faction, he could live a comfortable life. However, he eventually engaged in the fighting against British colonists which leaded to his life-long oversea exile.
