Jeng, a child age two, has a suspected case of hand, foot and mouth disease. Jeng mother has been contacted and has come to pick him up. She is very upset and wants to know why Jeng must be excluded – to her he seems well, and she cannot take time off from her job to stay home with him.

Required:
a. Discuss the points you should discuss with Jeng’s mother.
b. State what documentation could be referred to when discussing the situation with Jeng’s mother and explain why this would be helpful in the discussion.

Answer:

A. I 'd be providing information readily available, foot as well as mouth illness and how that can expanded to many other children rapidly. To Jeng's mother, I will also demonstrate that there really is no actual therapy for arm, meals and tongue disease. I strongly suggest her to bring him tramadol. This will bring reduce fever.

I 'd also advise her to offer him more than enough fluid and avoid acidic beverages, like iced tea etc. Soft drinks as well as iceblocks seem to be generally good for helping to ease throat pain.

B. The literature that can be mentioned is the one that was released by SA Health and has been called "Head, Foot and Mouth Disease: Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Avoidance." It would be nice to have this literature on head so that each stage of the illness could be addressed with Jeng's mother.
