Answer:

A. Introduction of formal education

Step-by-step explanation:

One of the major effects of the Christian missionary activity in Nigeria was the introduction of formal education. Thomas Birch Freeman, a Christian missionary began the first school in Nigeria, in the year 1842 at Badagry. He appointed a couple named Mr. and Mrs. de Graft to manage the school. Despite the opposition, they met, including the closure of these schools in 1852, the missionaries did not relent in opening more elementary schools.

They even went ahead to open secondary schools such as the Methodist Boys High School in 1878, Methodist Girls High School in 1879, and St. Gregory's College in 1876. The government only began showing interest in formal education, first in Lagos, in 1909 with the establishment of Kings College, and later in 1934, with the establishment of Yaba Higher College and Medical school.
