Hello,

let say that
x_1 and
x_2 are two zeros of second order polynomial

it can be then be written


(x-x_1)(x-x_2)=x^2-(x_1+x_2)x+x_1*x_2

So when we check this expression


x^2+4x+7

we can say that the sum of zeros is -4

and the the product of zeros is 7

to note that in this example there are no real root of this equation


x^2+4x+7=0

here, the zeros are complex numbers not real ones

if I have to solve it in
\mathbb{R} I would say that there are no zeros so their sum is not defined

if I have to solve it in
\mathbb{C} I would say that there are two complex roots and their sum is -4
