Answer:

50

Solution,

Norman produces 30 tomatoes this year.

40% less tomatoes than the last year.

Let the last year's tomatoes be 'x'.

Then,

40% of X

40 / 100 * x

0.4x

This year=30

x - 0.4</em></strong><strong><em>x</em></strong><strong><em>= 30 \\ or \: 0.6x = 30 \\ or \: x = (60)/(0.6) \\ x = 50

Therefore, His garden produced 50 tomatoes last year.

Hope this helps...

Good luck on your assignment...

Answer:

x=50

Explanation:

note that 40% is 2/5

Therefore, 30 tomatoes is 1- 2/5 = 3/5

3/5 of the tomatoes last year is 30

lets say tomatoes = x

3/5 x = 30

divide by 3 on both sides

1/5 x = 10

multiply by 5 on both sides

x=50

:D

hope it helped :D
