Each term in the sequence below is 9 more than 1/3 the previous term. What is the value of y-x?

Answer:

y - x = - 5

Explanation:

Applying the rule gives

x =
(1)/(3) × 36 + 9 = 12 + 9 = 21

y =
(1)/(3) × 21 + 9 = 7 + 9 = 16

Thus

y - x = 16 - 21 = - 5
