Explanation:

The formula of the area of a rhombus is (p x q)/2 (p and q being the diagonals, or the distance to opposite sides)

So, the distance between (-1,1) and (9,1) (on the x-axis) is 10. And the distance between (4,9) and 4,-7) on the y-axis is 16.

Then you substitute the diagonals into your formula: (16 x 10) /2

16 x 10 = 160, 160 ÷ 2 = 80
