Maths Question:

The vase has a radius of 5cm,
There are 1000cm cubed of water in the vase,
Work out the depth of the water in the vase.
Give your answer to 1 decimal place.

The depth is 12.7 cm

Explanation:

Let the shape of the vase be a cylindrical shape

the volume of the cylinder is given as

let the depth be h


v= \pi r^2h

Given

radius r= 5 cm

volume v= 1000 cm

height h= ?

Substituting the values we can find the depth(h)


1000= 3.142*5^2*h\\1000= 3.142*25*h\\\\1000= 78.55*h\\

Dividing both sides by 78.55 we have


h= (1000)/(78.55) \\\h= 12.73

to 1 dp h= 12.7 cm
