Mean = Sum of the number of boxes/ sum of the number of months

Mean number of boxes sold last year = (435+428+437+398+447+426)/6= 428.5

Mean number of boxes sold this year=

(440+416+445+423+420+446)/6 = 431.667

Difference = 431.667-428.5

≈ 3.167
