Explanation:

The average rate of change is
(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a). Since a=-1 and b=1. We can plug them into the equation and solve.


([1^2-1-1][(-1)^2-(-1)-1)])/(1-(-1)) =((-1)(1))/(2) =-(1)/(2)
