Answer:

y = -3

Explanation:

=> -7x+8y = 39

Putting x = -9

=> -7(-9)+8y = 39

=> 63+8y = 39

Subtracting 63 to both sides

=> 8y = 39-63

=> 8y = -24

Dividing both sides by 8

=> y = -3

Answer:

-7x + 8y = 39

when x = -9

-7(-9) +8y = 39

63 + 8y = 39

8y = 39-63

8y = -24

Divide both sides by 8

y = - 3

Hope this helps.
